Sacred Heart of Jesus School’s first- through fifth-grade students celebrated the winding down of the school year on May 23 during the annual Field Day on the school ballfield.

Students enjoyed potato sack races, soccer goal kicking, the limbo, relay races, a Hawaiian clothing race and a cup transfer race, in which participants raced carrying plastic cups with rhythm sticks. The cups were filled with golf balls.

Class of 2016 members Amelia Cave, Ben Bookman, Beau Brown, Maggie Hurdle, Ashley Stevens, Anthony Tempanaro and Abby Wall assisted with the event, along with parent volunteers.

Water Wars, a battle with water balloons, was sponsored by the Sacred Heart Home and School Association. Students battled one another, then enjoyed frozen treats and sno-balls while they cheered on teachers battling one another, according to a news release. The teachers also competed against the Class of 2016.

The school’s physical education department and physical education teacher Michelle Newman sponsored field day.
