Liberty Lagoon will hold its End of the Summer Pool Pawty from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23. This dog-friendly event is limited to 100 dogs. Purchase your wristband at Liberty Lagoon starting at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 23. Cost is $2 per person (limit of two dogs per handler).

All participants must comply with the following rules:

Dog waste must be cleaned up and properly disposed of by the dog owner.

Dogs must be on a leash at all times, except in the pool area.

All children and dogs must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years old.

No dogs under 4 months old are allowed.

Proof of vaccinations, including rabies and bordetella (tags or paper), is required.

Owners are allowed to wade in water up to the knees.

Dogs must wear collars while swimming.

Aggressive dogs may be asked to leave.

Owners are responsible for the actions of their dog.

Bingo at the library

Bingo night for adults is back at the Jones Creek Regional Branch Library, 6222 Jones Creek Road. The game gets underway at 6:30 p.m.

Movie matinee

The weekend movie matinee for adults at the Jones Creek library is “Despicable Me,” rated PG. Show times are at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23. Popcorn and punch will be served.

Children can watch “Matilda,” rated PG, at 6:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24. Kids are welcome to wear library-appropriate pajamas and bring their favorite snacks, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Author meet and greet

Local indie author S.M. Schmitz will discuss her Baton Rouge-set paranormal romance series, “Resurrected,” at the Jones Creek Regional Library from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22.

“Insurrection,” the second book in the series, will be released in August exclusively as an Amazon e-book.

Kids’ story and craft

The Jones Creek Regional Branch invites kids ages 3 to 6 to a story and craft time at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22. Listen to the story “Snack Time for Confetti” by Kali Stileman, then create a colorful, silly bird craft. Registration is required; call (225) 756-1140.
