It was a who’s who evening at the grand opening gala of the Jefferson Performing Arts Center. The red-carpet event included performances by the Branford Marsalis and Joey Calderazzo Duo; the JPAC artist-in-residence Jefferson Performing Arts Society, led by Maestro Dennis Assaf; the Delta Festival Ballet, Jefferson Ballet, and local celebrity “kingfish” John “Spud” McConnell. JPAC is a new, state-of-the-art performance venue featuring an acoustically-designed interior; an impressive proscenium arch stage with orchestra lift; and a theatrical fly rigging system from renowned designer J.R. Clancy.
