BREC’s UpperDeck Clinics for ages 8 to 18 are set for 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Milton J. Womack Park, 6201 Florida Blvd.

Players will address different baseball/softball technical skills including hitting, pitching, fielding, speed drills, conditioning, agility ground ball drills, catcher drills and outfield drills.

Teen Game Day

Teens can come to the Main Library, 7711 Goodwood Blvd., from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday to play Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U. Prizes will be awarded.

Library movie night

To celebrate the release of Harper Lee’s latest novel, “Go Set a Watchman,” the Eden Park Branch Library will show the film “To Kill a Mockingbird” at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2. Popcorn will be served.

The Eden Park branch is at 5131 Greenwell Springs Road.

Google SketchUp

Learn the basics of Google SketchUp, a free 3-D modeling program, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday at the Main Library.

Participants will navigate the tool set, play with several tools and create a personalized name tag.

Actors’ starter kit

Independence Park Theatre, 7800 Independence Blvd., will host a “Launch Your Acting Career: Starter Kit” workshop from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3.

Participants will learn about taking professional headshots, agency representation, preparing for professional auditions and more.

The program is open to all ages and costs $25 per person.

Fitness Rocks

Fitness Rocks, a day of group exercise and wellness activities for the whole family, will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 12 at the A.C. Lewis YMCA, 350 S. Foster Drive. The event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by Healthy BR, Whole Foods, Training by Adrian Brumfield and the Y.

The lineup includes Wanda ZumbaDiva, Gracie Perkins, Adrian Brumfield, Tanesha Craig, Terrell Robertson and Joey Godfrey, with comedian Van Chew as host and a special musical performance by Love-N-Pain.

Heritage society to meet

The Canary Islanders Heritage Society of Louisiana meets at 11 a.m. Sept. 5 at the Bluebonnet Regional Library, 9200 Bluebonnet Blvd. All meetings are open to the public.

The topic is “Domingues of Louisiana: Recent Findings and Travel Photos.” The presentation will feature some history of the Domingue family by Bertha Domingue; society member Wade Falcon will uncover some mysteries and recent ancestral findings about the Domingue ship ancestors; and the Rev. Ken Domingue will share photos from his 2015 trip to the island of Tenerife, illustrating the places where the Domingue family lived near San Juan De La Rambla.
