The Louisiana Housing Corp. has purchased a building from the Louisiana Association of Community Action Partnerships for just over $1 million.

LHC, a government agency that helps low- and moderate-income families meet their housing needs, bought the building at 11637 Industriplex Blvd. for $1.023 million, according to documents filed with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s office Thursday.

Anna Dearmon, LHC communications director, said the agency bought the building from the community action partnerships because it is taking over administration of the organization’s weatherization training facility. The 11,000-square-foot Industriplex building is a center for teaching contractors how to make homes more energy efficient, which helps lower utility costs. “LHC has always sort of supervised that program,” Dearmon said.

While weatherization training continues to go on, LHC plans to move some program staff into the new building in May.
