Developer acquires land for Shoe Creek in Central _lowres

The developers of The Settlement at Shoe Creek, a traditional neighborhood development that will be built off Sullivan Road in Central, purchased a 102.2-acre tract of land for the community.

Shoe Creek LLC, which is headed by Robert Daigle, one of the founders of Southern Lifestyle Development, bought the land for $3.5 million in a deal that was filed Tuesday with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s Office. The sellers were Larna Davis Gervasi Andrews of South Lion, Michigan, and William Rufus Gervasi of The Woodlands, Texas.

The Settlement at Shoe Creek will be a 150-acre development, featuring a variety of apartments, cottages, townhomes and single-family homes, along with office and retail space. Plans are to have 700 housing units in the development.

Prescott Bailey of Southern Lifestyle Development said the company had an agreement to buy the land for Shoe Creek and carried out the transaction Tuesday. There’s one more transaction scheduled to happen.

Southern Lifestyle Development is negotiating with potential retail tenants and working to develop a list of approved builders. The plan is to break ground on Shoe Creek by the end of this year or the first part of 2016. “We’re pretty excited about it,” Bailey said.
