Jill Roshto has been named chief executive officer and president of the Pennington Biomedical Research Foundation, the nonprofit fundraising organization affiliated with the Pennington Biomedical Research Center.
For the past two years, Roshto has served as the chief executive officer of Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.
“She has tremendous enthusiasm for our mission and extensive knowledge in fundraising and donor relations,” said C. Kris Kirkpatrick, the foundation’s chairman of the board.
The biomedical center conducts research into nutrition and obesity and related diseases such as diabetes. Gifts to the Pennington Foundation are used for pilot research projects; recruitment and retention of scientists; advancing technology; and endowing academic chairs and professorships.
Roshto, an LSU graduate, previously worked for LSU’s Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute and LSU Foundation in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her experience in the business sector includes managerial positions at Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry and ownership of The Keeping Room.
Besides her professional responsibilities, Roshto has been involved in numerous local community organizations including the Baton Rouge Eye Bank Auxiliary, Rotary Club of Baton Rouge, Community Fund for the Arts, Baton Rouge Speech & Hearing Foundation, Junior League, Playmakers of Baton Rouge, Performing Arts Society of Acadiana and the Acadiana Symphony.
