A New York-based company bought 2.6 acres of land just outside the South Gates of LSU for $9.3 million with plans to build a previously announced 280-unit apartment complex.
Park7 Group bought the land in four separate deals filed with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s office Wednesday afternoon. The tract is bordered by West Parker Boulevard, East Boyd Drive, Swire Avenue and Dodson Avenue.
Plans for Park7 were approved earlier this year by the Metro Council. The complex will be made up of a six-story apartment building and a six-story parking garage, with amenities such as a pool, hot tub and clubhouse on top of the parking garage, an outdoor kitchen, a fitness center, a theater and a game room. Construction should start this summer and for a fall 2017 semester opening.
Groups who sold land to Park7 were DB Boyd Holding LLC of Baton Rouge, which garnered nearly $5 million for a 1.5-acre site; Ivy at Southgate LLC of Baton Rouge, which got nearly $2.6 million for its land; Campus Edge Apartments of Baton Rouge, which got nearly $1.2 million; and TK Properties of Baton Rouge, which got $650,000.
