Jefferson Chamber to hold annual meeting
The Jefferson Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual luncheon meeting at noon Tuesday at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans Airport Hotel, 2829 Williams Blvd., Kenner.
Loren C. Scott, president of Loren C. Scott & Associates Inc. and professor emeritus at LSU, will present an economic forecast.
The chamber also will present several awards.
Registration and networking begin at 11:30 a.m.

BNI Louisiana forms N.O.-area chapter
BNI Louisiana has launched a new chapter in the New Orleans area.
The BNI N.O. Summit Select Chapter will meet weekly at 8 a.m. on Tuesdays at Copeland’s Restaurant, 701 Veterans Blvd., Metairie.
BNI members share ideas, contacts and business referrals. Only one person representing a professional specialty can join a BNI chapter.

Farm Bill training sessions planned
Two training sessions on the Noninsured Disaster Assistance Program enacted by the 2014 Farm Bill will be held in the Baton Rouge area this week by the Louisiana Farm Service Agency and Southern University AgCenter.
The training sessions are at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Chaneyville Community Center, 13211 Jackson Road, Zachary, and 9 a.m. Friday at the Southern University Ag Center, Ashford O. William Hall, Baton Rouge.

Hiring first workers topic of workshop
The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University will present a free workshop to help new businesses learn how to hire their first employees.
The event will be held Feb. 10 at the St. Tammany Administrative Complex at 21454 Koop Drive from noon to 1:30 p.m., with networking starting at 11:30 a.m. It is sponsored by the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation.
Topics include advertising for the job, interviewing potential candidates, hiring the right person and collecting the required paperwork.
Trade zone seminar planned in Hammond
A free lunch seminar on foreign trade zones will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Southeast Louisiana Business Center, 1514 Martens Drive, Hammond.
The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University is hosting the event, co-sponsored by Tangipahoa Economic Development. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m.
The seminar will demonstrate how combining the benefits of a Foreign Trade Zone and the transportation advantages available along the banks of the Mississippi River can benefit an organization.

SJB adds subsurface utility engineering
SJB Group LLC in Baton Rouge is expanding its land surveying service to include subsurface utility engineering.
SJB Group said its survey crews have worked alongside and subcontracted to SUE providers for several years. The company added SUE services for getting underground utility information to help grow its surveying division.
SJB Group is a civil engineering company, providing engineering and construction services consulting services to clients in the Southeast.
