Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana plans to move about 90 information technology employees to the Bon Carré Business Center.
The company will spend about $1.3 million to renovate 17,822 square feet at 7257 Florida Blvd., according to a permit issued by the city-parish earlier this week.
John Maginnis, a spokesman for Blue Cross, said the plan is to have the employees at the new location by the summer. Maginnis said the workers are being moved away from Blue Cross’ campus at Bluebonnet Boulevard “because of space constraints.” The company is leasing the space in the center from Commercial Properties Realty Trust, which manages Bon Carré.
Bon Carré is home for a number of high-profile businesses, such as Cox Communications; data center operator Venyu; URS, an engineering and construction firm; and GMFS, a mortgage company.
Blue Cross is one of the largest private employers in Baton Rouge, with about 2,100 workers.
