First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending June 4 increased to 3,590 from the previous week’s total of 3,138.
The state labor department said there were 3,368 claims for the comparable week a year earlier.
The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, increased to 3,216 from the previous week’s average of 3,024.
Continued unemployment claims for the week ending June 4 increased to 23,596 compared with 23,365 the previous week. The four-week moving average for such claims increased to 23,286 from the previous week’s average of 23,045.
