A restaurant industry veteran plans to open a coffee shop and breakfast restaurant this summer in the Ogden Market shopping center in MidCity.

Sean Braswell, who has held positions from dishwasher to general manager at a range of local restaurants, including Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Coyote Blues, Sullivan’s Steakhouse and Vincent’s Italian, said Simple Joe will sell breakfast sandwiches and “build your own” breakfast plates. “It will almost be a la carte,” Braswell said.

Simple Joe will offer Community Coffee and gourmet java from around the world, along with a chocolate recipe his mother developed 40 years ago.

“This is something I really wanted to get out there; it’s a wonderful product,” Braswell said. The chocolate will be used in a variety of candies, including chocolate-covered cherries, chocolate-covered peanut butter cups and fudge.

Plans are to open Simple Joe by the first or second week of July. The restaurant will be two doors down from Radio Bar.

Brent Struthers with Beau Box Commercial Real Estate helped Braswell get a lease in the center, located at 3057 Government St.
