Central Scales and Controls in Denham Springs has been acquired by System Scale, an employee-owned industrial scale calibration and repair company based in Indianapolis.
A purchase price was not disclosed.
“With existing locations in West Monroe and Mobile, Alabama, we felt this was the perfect fit to cover both central Louisiana as well as the Gulf Coast,” said System Scale Chief Executive Officer Harry Dunavant.
Central Scales owner John Sanders is now in a senior management role with System Scale. Employees of the 25-year-old local company have joined System Scale.
System Scale said it will work closely with its Denham Springs employees to retain and grow the business in their current sales and service territory.
Founded in 1979, System Scale has 12 offices throughout the Midwest and South. It specializes in industrial, agriculture, aggregate and laboratory scales and service. In February, System Scale also acquired Master Scales of Greenwood, Mississippi.
System Scale has been an Employee Stock Ownership Plan company since 1995. ESOP Trustee and Chief Financial Officer Michael Sale called the ESOP the cornerstone of System Scale’s culture and business approach.
“The founder of System Scale wanted to ensure the company would reward all of its employees with exceptional benefits and pride of ownership,” he said. “We work extremely hard to uphold this philosophy and recognize growth opportunities such as this are only possible because of our employee owners are working toward a common goal.”
An open house is planned for customers of System Scale on from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 11 at the company’s Denham Springs office, 34624 La. 16.
