Kevin Dietz, associate in the Office of Technology Management at LSU Health New Orleans, is one of nine recipients of the Association of University Technology Managers 2015 Volunteer Service Awards.
The association recognized Dietz in the membership, Western Hemisphere, category. He is an active volunteer on the membership committee, including serving on the volunteerism subcommittee. He also serves as the membership committee’s liaison to the central region meeting planning committee.
AARP Louisiana has named New Orleans City Councilmember Susan Guidry as the recipient of the 2014 Local Leader of the Year award for championing issues that enhance the lives of older residents in the city.
She was recognized for her leadership and tenacity to rebuild the Carrollton-Hollygrove Senior Center after it was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina.
BATON ROUGE AREA
Jiandi Zhang, a professor in the LSU Department of Physics and Astronomy, has been named a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
Fellowship is based on exceptional contributions to physics, including outstanding physics research, important applications of physics, leadership in or service to physics or significant contributions to physics education.
Zhang’s main research interest is exploring complex materials with useful properties, such as superconductivity and magnetoresistivity, with practical applications for more efficient data storage and power generation.
Lindsey Short, assistant administrator for the Louisiana Telecommunications Association in Baton Rouge, and Sherri Jones, director of conference services for the Louisiana Dental Association in Baton Rouge, were recognized by the Louisiana Society of Association Executives for their contributions to the society.
La Divina Italian Café in Baton Rouge is one of 102 winners nationally of The American Small Business Championship hosted by SCORE, a small-business mentor organization.
Junior Achievement of Greater Baton Rouge has named Lane Grigsby and Harvey S. Honor é Sr. as Business Hall of Fame Laureates; John Valluzzo, Business Person of the Year; John Jackson, Young Business Person of the Year; InfiniEdge Software, Company of the Year under 100 employees; and CSRS Inc., Company of the Year over 100 employees.
Ruben Dauzat was named the Outstanding Master Farmer of the Year for 2014 at the annual convention of the Louisiana Association of Conservation Districts.
The award is for his conservation efforts. Dauzat grows corn, soybeans, grain sorghum, corn, wheat, cotton and cattle on the 1,200-acre Wayside Farms near Simmesport in Avoyelles Parish.
