Mooyah Burgers Fries & Shakes opened its fourth Louisiana location this week at 4100 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie on Monday, and additional locations in Baton Rouge and Ascension Parish should open in the next nine months or so.

Ardag Tachian, a development agent for the fast-growing Dallas-based hamburger chain, is in Baton Rouge scouting locations with Chuck and Denise Kerr, the Baton Rouge franchisee, and Chad Calongne and Ryan Brach, who have franchise rights in Ascension Parish.

Tachian said Calogne and Brach are looking at sites in Gonzales and Prairieville. “In six to nine months, the first Ascension location should be open,” he said.

The Kerrs opened the first Mooyah in Louisiana in November 2013 at 6555 Siegen Lane. That restaurant consistently has been one of the top performing restaurants in the chain.

“I guess they should open a second Baton Rouge location in about nine months,” Tachian said.

Mooyah offers build-your-own burgers, made with fresh ground beef or turkey, and a variety of toppings. The chain has 75 locations in 15 states, and another 12 restaurants should be open by the end of April.

Mooyah’s other Louisiana locations are at the Outlet Collection at Riverwalk and in Hammond.
