First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana decreased last week to 2,466 from the previous week’s total of 2,541, the state’s labor department reported Friday.
For the comparable week a year earlier, there were 3,124 initial claims.
The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, increased to 2,562 from the previous week’s total of 2,556.
Continued unemployment claims for the week ending May 4 decreased to 23,010 compared to 23,148 the previous week.
The four-week moving average for such claims decreased to 22,963 from the previous week’s average of 23,015.
