Zoe’s Kitchen Inc. has completed an acquisition of five franchised restaurants in Louisiana and development rights for additional restaurants in the state for about $8 million.
The Plano, Texas, company said the acquisitions included three Zoës Kitchen restaurants and two more under development. The company did not specify locations in a press release. Its website shows two Zoës locations in Baton Rouge and one each in Metairie, Harahan and Lafayette.
The transaction closed on Monday.
“The acquisition of our Louisiana franchised restaurants and area development rights ideally complement our ongoing growth strategy,” said Kevin Miles, president and chief executive officer of Zoës Kitchen. “Our franchise partners have done an outstanding job of building the Zoës Kitchen brand in Louisiana during the last six years, and we look forward to continuing to grow our presence in the state.”
The company expects the two restaurants under development to open by the end of its first fiscal quarter 2015.
Founded in 1995, Zoës Kitchen is a fast-casual restaurant concept serving Mediterranean-inspired dishes. It has over 130 locations in 15 states across the United States.
