First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending Oct. 4 increased to 2,081 from the previous week’s total of 1,887.
The state labor department figures released Friday showed the initial claims for the comparable week a year earlier were 2,456.
The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, increased to 2,027 from the previous week’s total of 1,997.
Continued unemployment claims for the week ending Oct. 4 decreased to 19,214 compared to 19,586 the previous week. The four-week moving average for such claims decreased to 19,835 from the previous week’s average of 20,216.
