A Texas businessman’s cash will ensure that Blue Bell Creameries’ ice cream returns grocery stores, the company announced Tuesday.

Sid Bass, whose families owns an oil-and-gas business, has become an investor and partner with Brenham, Texas-based Blue Bell.

Blue Bell shut down production and issued a national recall in April after the company’s ice cream was linked to 10 listeria illnesses in four states, including three deaths in Kansas.

Blue Bell has operations in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Slidell, Bossier City, Alexandria and Ruston.
