Southern University’s Campus Police Department will launch its official Jags Safe app for students, faculty and staff on Wednesday.

The free app will “increase the level of safety, security and integrate technology on Southern University’s campus,” according to Southern University Interim Chief of Police Joycelyn Johnson.

The school looked at more than 70 companies’ products before choosing 911 Cellular. Southern says the app allows students to instantly report crimes, at the touch of a button.
