Baton Rouge-based Tin Roof Brewing has hired its first chief executive officer, tapping a former Mockler Beverage brand manager for the position.

Jacob Talley, who was in charge of Mockler’s craft beer brands for the past four years will step into the role of guiding Tin Roof’s long-term growth.

“I am excited for the opportunity to help Tin Roof grow into the next phase,” Talley said. “The brewery is certainly capable of taking the next step to solidify itself as a significant craft brewery in the region.”

The move is a return to Tin Roof for Talley. He helped the brewery make one of its first batches of beer in 2010 before he took a job with Mockler.

Charles Caldwell, who founded Tin Roof with William McGehee, said hiring a CEO will help the brewery as it gears up for more growth. The two founders have been splitting the duties of a chief executive.

“We’re looking at opening up new markets, like east Texas,” Caldwell said. Tin Roof is currently being sold across Louisiana, Arkansas, south Mississippi and in Mobile, Alabama. The brewery is producing about 7,000 barrels of beer a year.

Talley also will help Tin Roof flesh out its calendar of seasonal beers and special releases. The brewery just launched a new recipe of its seasonal Gameday IPA, Caldwell said.
