Broadmoor Village land acquired for $1 million _lowres

The group that has spent the past few years redeveloping the Broadmoor Village Shopping Center has purchased the land upon which the center sits for $1 million.

Clark Heebe and Brett Davis bought the shopping center in late 2010, but they had been paying a lease for the land the buildings sat on, said Austin Earhart, an agent with Beau Box Commercial Real Estate who is handling rentals for the center.

Broadmoor Village Shopping Center Re-Development LLC bought the land on Florida Boulevard from the Sharp family in a deal that was filed Monday with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s Office.

“It just made sense for them to own it all outright,” Earhart said. “It’s pretty simple now.”

Broadmoor Village is anchored by Planet Fitness and a Hi Nabor grocery store set to open Nov. 6. Earhart said there are two vacant spaces left and he’s talking to everyone from a community college to restaurants and national retailers about leasing space in the center.
