Baton Rouge-based e-Gov Systems, a cloud-based tax compliance company, has acquired the sales-and-use tax software assets of Gonzales-based JPI Data Resources for an undisclosed sum.

JPI sells software document and storage software, as well as sales tax and distribution systems. The company’s customers include hospitals, medical offices, billing firms and local governments.

According to e-Gov, the acquisition will help the firm build upon current tax portal offerings and provide a back-end collection system to new and existing clients. The combination of the e-Gov Systems’ Tax Portal and JPI Data Resources’ Revenue Collection System will create a tightly integrated end-to-end solution for local governmental agencies.

Tax specialist e-Gov has been in business since 1997. The company focuses on the public sector and its products help local government agencies collect more than $1 billion per year in sales taxes.
