Conrad Industries Inc., a Morgan City-based boat and barge builder, reported a third-quarter loss of $193,000, or 4 cents per share, compared to $4.7 million, or 92 cents per share, a year ago.

For the first nine months of 2017, Conrad had net income of $1.3 million, or 25 cents per share, compared to a loss of $858,000, or 17 cents per share, for the same period a year ago.

Conrad's services include designing, building and overhauling tugboats, ferries, liftboats, barges and offshore supply vessels. The company has five shipyards in south Louisiana and Texas.

The company had a backlog of $140.9 million of work at Sept. 30, compared to $251.1 million a year ago.
