Gurtner Zuniga Abney, a New Orleans area accounting and advisory services firm, is merging into Carr, Riggs & Ingram LLC, an Alabama-based firm with offices in 21 markets and 1,250 employees throughout nine states across the South.

CRI said it will retain current Gurtner personnel and will be operating offices in New Orleans and Mandeville.

Gurtner Zuniga Abney specializes in the government, health care and real estate sectors.

“Our firm has grown exponentially in the last decade due to our proactive consultative approach and client service focus,” said Tom Gurtner, managing partner of Gurtner Zuniga Abney. “Joining the super-regional firm of CRI, who is just as focused on growth, is a match of business philosophies and cultures. Plus, this merger translates into an ability to increase efficiencies with access to back-office support, technological solutions and technical training that helps us spend our time on our top strength — serving and consulting with our clients.”

The Gurtner Zuniga Abney merger marks CRI’s fourth expansion in the New Orleans market in less than five years.

CRI, ranked as the 22nd-largest accounting firm nationally, specializes in construction companies, manufacturing and distribution companies, health care, not-for-profit organizations, governmental entities, financial institutions and insurance companies. The firm’s services also include business consulting, forensic accounting, IT audit and assurance, SEC compliance, service organization control reports, tax, transaction advisory services, and wealth management.
