Renaissance Gateway, a 208-unit affordable housing apartment complex, is now open.
The property at 650 N. Ardenwood Drive had been known as Ardenwood Park Apartments before a $28.1 million redevelopment. It is located behind BREC’s headquarters on Florida Boulevard. The extensive renovation was needed because many of the units in the complex were uninhabitable because of water damage.
4321 Associates of Metairie and Community Development Inc. of Caldwell, Idaho, teamed up for the redevelopment. WNC of Irvine, California, provided $10.3 million in low-income housing tax credits for Renaissance Gateway. The development was also funded by the city-parish, the Louisiana Office of Community Development, the East Baton Rouge Redevelopment Authority and America First Credit Union.
Units in Renaissance Gateway are open to families who earn between 20 to 60 percent of the median income.
