Construction has started on The Addison in Baton Rouge, the second luxury apartment development in The Grove traditional neighborhood development.

The Addison is a 139-unit building that will feature one- and two-bedroom apartments, townhomes and 7,000 square feet of retail space. It joins The High Grove, a 192-unit building, in the community just east of the Mall of Louisiana.

The Addison is named after Addison Mizner, a famous architect in the early 20th century who helped develop Boca Raton, Florida. The $23 million building is expected to open in January 2016.

Richard Carmouche is developing The Grove along with The Domain Companies, which has offices in New Orleans and New York. Officials with Domain have said the rents in The Addison will be similar to The High Grove, where units rent from $1,055 a month for a one-bedroom, one-bath unit that is 681 square feet to $1,815 a month for a two-bedroom, two-bath unit that is 1,108 square feet.

Palmisano Contractors will build The Addison, while Humphreys & Partners Architects designed the property.
