LSU and its students will be part of the Global Game Jam, the world's largest game creation event, from Jan. 23-25.

Organizers are describing the event as a hackathon focused on game development. This is LSU's second year as a festival participant.

The game jam starts at around 5 p.m. Friday. Participants at sites worldwide will have 48 hours to make games based on a single theme, which will be announced Friday.

A year ago, people at 488 sites in 72 countries participated. More than 4,000 games were created in one weekend.

The LSU location is at the Digital Media Center, Room No. 1034. Registration closes at midnight Jan. 22.
