Local auto dealer Brian Harris has purchased 100,000 square feet of land at the northeast corner of Barringer Foreman Road and Airline Highway, though he said there are no plans for a car dealership there.
Instead, Harris said, the land seemed like a smart investment, and he paid just over $2 million for it, according to the city-parish Clerk of Court’s office.
The seller was listed as Jesse L. Henderson Jr.
“It’s a good area and it’s a great piece of property,” Harris said.
He said the property is “the last hot corner left” in that area.
He spoke highly of the Woman’s Hospital facility under construction nearby and of Long Farm, a traditional neighborhood development on 237 acres of farmland once owned by U.S. Sen. Russell Long.
“That’s going to be a pretty nice development as it goes along,” he said, noting Long Farm’s plans for residential, office and retail construction. “They’re going to have a little bit of everything up there. It’s going to be a full TND so I think it will become an exciting development when it’s all finished.”
Harris said his property has 336 feet of frontage along Airline.
