The owners of Jolie Pearl Oyster Bar will open a second restaurant in the White Star Market, the Mid City food hall set to open later this year/early 2017.

Jolie @ The Market will feature a selection of signature oysters, fried oyster and fried shrimp po-boys and some new dishes. It’s the second tenant for the White Star Market, which will be on the first floor of the Square 46 mixed-use development at 4646 Government St. Last week, Jay Ducote, the Baton Rouge food blogger who made the finals of “Food Network Star”, announced he was opening a taco stand in the market.

Clark Gaines, owner of the market, said some of the dishes at Jolie @ The Market may pay homage to Giamanco’s, the popular restaurant that used to be on the site of Square 46.

“What the team at Jolie Pearl has done with their restaurant downtown was very appealing to me. They understand the community aspect to their business and that’s very important at White Star as well,” Gaines said in a statement. “They’ll rely on the infrastructure they’ve built while also creating a concept unique to our Market.”

Jolie Pearl opened on North Boulevard in 2014.

Construction on the White Star Market is set to begin later this spring and the market is set to open in nine or 10 months.

The market is set to have about a dozen different food booths and a bar.
