A local investor has purchased The Country Club II, a Tigerland apartment complex, for $750,000 and plans to make extensive renovations to the property.

Paul D. White Jr., doing business as The Chateau Apartments of Baton Rouge LLC, bought the 32-unit complex at 4636 Alvin Dark Ave. in a deal that was filed Thursday with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s office. The seller was MAR Realty LLC.

White said he plans to rename the complex The Chateau Apartments of Baton Rouge and spend about $300,000 to upgrade the apartments. The plan is to install new flooring, countertops and bathrooms, while checking each unit to see if new air conditioning units or hot water heaters are needed. “The apartments will look almost new,” White said. “They’ll be much nicer.”

White and his family specialize in buying Tigerland apartment complexes and fixing them up. Some of the properties they own include Cambridge Apartments and the Establishment apartments. “We look for good locations where the owners have deferred maintenance and we come in,” he said.

The plan is to finish the renovations at The Chateau Apartments in time for the fall 2015 semester, White said.
