GRAY – Danos has been selected by Shell Offshore Inc. to fabricate three boarding valve skid assemblies for its deep-water Appomattox project. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
Five Danos divisions – coatings, fabrication, instrumentation and electrical, project management and procurement – will immediately begin work on the project, which and is expected to take about 12 months to complete.
The boarding valves can be used to shut down the flow of oil and gas in case of emergency.
The boarding valve skids will be built at Danos’ Amelia fabrication facility and shipped to Ingleside, Texas. The equipment will then be installed on a floating production platform located in the deep-water Gulf of Mexico, about 80 miles off the Louisiana coast.
