Our Lady of the Lake has purchased the former Brian Harris Used Cars dealership on Florida Boulevard with preliminary plans to build a neighborhood clinic.
The hospital said it paid $750,000 for the 6.6-acre site.
Scott Wester, chief executive officer for Our Lady of the Lake, said the site near the Florida-Lobdell intersection is “ideal” for a neighborhood clinic, which would provide additional access to medical care for people in the area. The medical center operates two neighborhood clinics through its LSU Health Baton Rouge division at 5439 Airline Highway and 1401 N. Foster Drive.
“Patients have responded to the availability of neighborhood clinics and urgent care in our community, using these locations for nonemergency, walk-in care as opposed to local ERs,” Wester said.
More than 25,600 square feet of buildings are on the property. The plan is to tear down the structures and build.
