Ochsner Health System continues to garner attention for its wellness efforts with wearables. Bloomberg News highlights a trial of the Apple Watch where the devices cue 20 patients with high blood pressure to take their medication.
Ochsner was one of the first U.S. health care providers to test Apple HealthKit. The service lets doctors remotely monitor patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.
Milani told Bloomberg the watches make it less likely that patients will miss a reminder to take their medication. This can happen with a smartphone prompt if the patient doesn’t hear the alert or isn’t carrying the phone.
