Bernhard Capital Partners has finalized $32 million in previously announced deals that give the firm control over Houston-based KBR’s Canadian pipe fabrication business and half of Brown & Root Industrial Services.
Bernhard Capital is one of the many companies affiliated with Jim Bernhard Jr., founder and former head of The Shaw Group in Baton Rouge.
Bernhard Capital Partners formed Brown & Root Industrial Services by combining KBR’s industrial services arm and Wink Engineering. They established the combined company’s headquarters in Baton Rouge. Brown & Root employs about 6,000 employees worldwide.
Bernhard Capital also acquired KBR’s Canadian pipe fabrication business and renamed it Falcon Fabricators and Modular Builders. The pipe business is now a subsidiary of Bernhard Capital’s EPIC Piping, with KBR a minority limited partner.
