First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending June 20 decreased to 2,731 from the previous week’s total of 2,888.

The state labor department said Friday claims for comparable week a year earlier were 2,604.

The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, decreased to 3,072 from the previous week’s total of 3,180.

Continued unemployment claims for the week ending June 20 increased to 26,412 compared to 25,858 the previous week. The four-week moving average for such claims increased to 25,316 from the previous week’s average of 24,592.
