Plans for an 81-room Candlewood Suites hotel have been filed with the city-parish Public Works Inspection division.
The hotel would be located at 5353 Bankers Ave., near the intersection of College Drive and Corporate Boulevard. According to officials with Baton Rouge-based MAPP Construction, which will build the hotel, the Candlewood Suites will cost about $6.5 million to build. Plans are to complete the four-story property so it can be open by summer 2015.
The hotel will be built on property owned by Lafayette-based Mihir Enterprises. Mihir bought the 2-acre site in June for $785,000.
Candlewood Suites has a location in Denham Springs. It is part of the InterContinental Hotels Group, which includes brands such as Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo and Staybridge Suites.
