First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending April 5 increased to 2,101 from the previous week’s 1,985.
The Louisiana Workforce Commission said Friday there were 2,444 initial claims during the comparable week in 2013.
The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, increased to 2,112 from the previous week’s average of 2,051.
Continued unemployment weeks claimed for the week ending April 5 decreased to 19,330 compared to 19,599 the previous week. The four-week moving average for such claims decreased to 19,633 from the previous week’s average of 19,874.
