The developers of The Settlement at Shoe Creek, a traditional neighborhood development that will be built off Sullivan Road in Central, have purchased another tract of land for the community.

Shoe Creek LLC, which is headed by Robert Daigle, one of the founders of Southern Lifestyle Development, bought 18.1 acres at 9961 Sullivan Road for $686,432 in a deal that was filed Tuesday with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s office. The seller was Rupert Gene Cobb of Central.

The Settlement at Shoe Creek will be a 150-acre development, featuring a variety of apartments, cottages, townhomes and single-family homes, along with office and retail space. Plans are to have 700 housing units in the development.

Last month, Shoe Creek LLC bought a 102.2-acre tract for the development, paying $3.5 million for the land.

Prescott Bailey of Southern Lifestyle Development said Tuesday’s purchase was currently the final tract of land that needed to be bought for Shoe Creek.

Southern Lifestyle Development is negotiating with potential retail tenants and working to develop a list of approved builders. The plan is to break ground on Shoe Creek by the end of this year or the first part of 2016.
