A 42,000-square-foot Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market is set to open Wednesday at 11550 Coursey Blvd.
About 95 people are expected to work at the store. Along with selling fresh produce, meat and a full line of grocery items, the Neighborhood Market will have a pharmacy with a drive-through window.
Wal-Mart has been concentrating on smaller stores locally and nationwide.
Since the start of the year, Neighborhood Markets have opened in Gonzales, Slidell, Clinton and Independence. One is under construction in Kentwood and Wal-Mart recently bought land at the intersection of Joor and Hooper roads in Central for a Neighborhood Market.
