Baton Rouge-based eQHealth Solutions is offering a chronic care management service that could help a typical family doctor bill up to $250,000 a year for treating Medicare patients with more than one chronic diseases.
“Everyone knows that managing patients with chronic diseases is the right thing to do for the health of individuals and of entire patient populations. Up until now, however, physicians were not paid by Medicare to provide chronic care management services,” said Dr. Ron Ritchey, chief medical officer eQHealth Solutions. “With this new billing code, CMS (the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) will reimburse physicians for providing regular monitoring and care management of patients with two or more chronic conditions."
The new billing code allows providers to charge $42 per month for chronic care management services for each Medicare patient who meets federal requirements. Physicians will not have to meet with patients face-to-face, so patients can have appointments by web or phone.
EQHealth Solutions is a non-profit healthcare information technology software and medical management services company.
