Gonzales-based Eatel is acquiring Vision Communications, a 66-year-old telecommunications company in Lafourche Parish, Eatel reported in a press release Tuesday.

Vision, based in Larose, provides cable TV, Internet, phone, home security and alarm monitoring services to residential and business customers from Raceland to Port Fourchon and Grand Isle.

Vision has been owned by BV Investment Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm, which acquired the company in 2007.

Eatel, whose primary service areas are Ascension and Livingston parishes, said the acquisition will give it an expanded service area throughout southeastern Louisiana that stretches from lower Livingston Parish to southern Jefferson Parish.

The transaction is subject to approval by the Federal Communications Commission and the Louisiana Public Service Commission.

The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter.
