Aledade’s Louisiana Accountable Care Organization, which is made up of six physician practices in Lafayette, New Iberia, Abbeville and Opelousas, will join the Blue Cross Quality Blue Value Partnership program.

Aledade’s Louisiana ACO provides care to 5,200 Medicare beneficiaries. The partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, Aledade’s first commercial contract here, will double the number of patients the Louisiana ACO will treat. Under the agreement, Aledade physicians will take on accountability for Blue Cross patients while the health insurer will provide the expertise and experience in care management and quality improvement, and data on the care provided.

Bethesda, Maryland-based Aledade partners with physicians to build ACOs, or networks of doctors who band together to provide patients with coordinated care. The company has agreements with more than 110 practices in 11 states, covering more than 100,000 patients.
