Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar is set to open a new location by September in the Clearview Mall in Metairie, taking over a space that had been occupied by Twin Peaks.
This will be the second New Orleans area location for the sports bar chain, joining the Walk-On’s on Poydras Street. A location is under construction in the River Chase development in Covington and it will be open after the Metairie restaurant.
Kyle Brechtel, a New Orleans native who owns the Fulton Alley bowling lounge and serves as a local franchisee for McAlister’s Deli, will own the Metairie Walk-On’s. Brechtel is also taking over ownership of the Poydras Walk-On’s, which had been corporate owned. Walk-On’s officials said there will be no change in operations or employees at the Poydras locations.
“Walk-On’s is not your normal sports bar, it’s family-oriented and it has extraordinary food that goes beyond your ‘basic bar bites’,” Brechtel said.
Walk-On’s has eight locations in Louisiana, including two restaurants in Baton Rouge and operations in Denham Springs, Lafayette, Houma, Shreveport and Lake Charles. Work started earlier this week on a location in the Americana traditional neighborhood development in Zachary and there are plans to open franchise operations in Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Lubbock and Tyler, Texas.
