A Morgan City company has purchased 14 Baton Rouge-area Taco Bell restaurants, a move that makes it the exclusive local operator of the fast-food Mexican chain.

B&G Food Enterprises LLC purchased the Baton Rouge stores as part of a deal that involved buying 25 locations in Louisiana and Mississippi from the Taco Bell Corp. The price was not disclosed.

The restaurants that changed hands include five in Baton Rouge, two in Denham Springs and Gonzales, and one each in Central, Donaldsonville, Prairieville, Walker and Zachary.

B&G, which has been a Taco Bell franchisee since 1982, now operates 135 restaurants, including all of the locations in metro Lafayette, Lake Charles and Alexandria. The company also operates every Mississippi restaurant south of Hattiesburg and nearly 50 locations in metro Houston.
