Melanie Talley, a senior association coordinator in Postlethwaite & Netterville's association management services group, has earned the certified association executive designation from the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
Certification is based on experience with nonprofit organization management, educational requirements, passing an exam and a code of ethics pledge.
The National Association of County Agricultural Agents chose the Louisiana Master Farmer Program as the winner of its Search for Excellence in Forestry and Natural Resources Award.
Ernest Girouard, Louisiana Master Farmer Program director with the LSU AgCenter, said the award is for a team effort.
The program helps agricultural producers address environmental concerns and enhance the production and resource management skills they need for natural resource management and continued sustainability. Program partners include the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Louisiana Farm Bureau and the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association.
NEW ORLEANS AREA
Paul Aucoin, executive director of the Port of South Louisiana in LaPlace, will be presented the Eugene J. Schreiber Award by the World Trade Center of New Orleans.
The award honors a person who demonstrates exceptional knowledge and leadership in promoting international trade policy for the benefit of the state.
Aucoin previously served as the port’s legal counsel. He has served as director and chairman of various organizations, including current appointments to the World Trade Center of New Orleans board of directors, the River Region Chamber of Commerce and the St. James Parish Economic Development Board. In 2016, Aucoin was appointed by Gov. John Bel Edwards to the Louisiana Board of International Commerce. Born and raised in St. John the Baptist Parish, Aucoin has been practicing law since receiving his doctorate in law from Loyola University Law School in 1970.
The Port of South Louisiana is a 54-mile port district on the Mississippi River between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, encompassing St. Charles, St. John and St. James parishes. The facilities within the port’s district consistently handle over a quarter billion short tons of cargo annually, ranking it the largest tonnage port district in the Western Hemisphere.
The award will be presented at the Louisiana International Trade Jubilee on Nov. 3 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
