First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending Sept. 27 decreased to 1,887 from the previous week’s total of 2,068.
The state labor department figures released Friday show claims for the comparable week a year earlier were 2,307.
The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, decreased to 1,997 from the previous week’s total of 2,084.
Continued unemployment claims for the week ending Sept. 27 decreased to 19,586 compared to 20,053 the previous week. The four-week moving average for such claims decreased to 20,216 from the previous week’s average of 20,685.
