Allied Materials & Equipment Co. will expand its Bogalusa flag-component facility by 43 percent and double its workforce, officials announced Thursday.
The Bogalusa facility produces the blue field of white stars for U.S. flags that are assembled in Kansas City, Missouri, for federal agencies across the nation.
Steve Pack, president of the company, said $340,000 will be invested to boost the plant’s weekly capacity of 13,000 fields of stars to a new maximum of 18,590.
Pack also said the 21-member plant staff will increase to 42.
The Louisiana Department of Economic Development estimated expansion of the Bogalusa plant also will generate 12 new indirect jobs in that area of Washington Parish.
Allied’s expansion also qualifies it for an industrial tax exemption, state officials said.
