A 17.7-acre tract north of Siegen Lane and Interstate 10 that will be the home for a new FedEx distribution facility in Baton Rouge has been sold.
Scannell Properties, the Indianapolis firm that is serving as developer and architect for the project, bought the site for nearly $5.8 million, according to documents filed Friday with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s office. The sellers were Garry and Gayle Lewis and Lanny and Valerie Lewis.
Plans are to build a 176,374-square-foot office and warehouse facility off Reitz Avenue. That’s significantly larger than the 24,440-square-foot facility on Harrell’s Ferry that has been FedEx’s local home since 2008. The final development plan for the distribution center was approved by the city-parish Planning Commission in January.
