Textron Marine gets Army M1117 contract
Textron Marine & Land Systems announced Tuesday that the U.S. Army Contracting Command has exercised a $49.6 million contract option for 65 additional armored security vehicles.
The New Orleans company has made 3,161 of the armored vehicles for the Army.
The M1117 has four-wheel drive and a V-shaped hull design and multiple layers of armor to help protect occupants from small arms fire, artillery projectile fragments, improvised explosive devices and land mines.
Scotlandville to get look at new plan
The Southern University School of Architecture’s Urban+Rural Community Design Research Center will unveil its Scotlandville Comprehensive Community Development Plan at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Jewel Newman Community Center, 2013 Central Road.
The plan will be used to assist in the revitalization of the Scotlandville area. Local and state agencies will discuss how they plan to assist in the implementation of the plan.
